Current Volunteer Opportunities

AFRIFEST 2016 is currently seeking volunteers to help plan and execute the 10th anniversary festival event, with such duties as Marketing/PR Rep, Music/Sound Rep, Volunteer Coordinator, Kids’ Activities, Soccer Tournament, Taste of Africa MN Coordinators, Vendors’ Rep, etc…
Duties include working with Executive Coordinator, board, partners, sponsors to plan event and execute successful festival event. Volunteers also needed to help with setup and take down of stages, tables, and banners, handing out programs (ushering), food distribution to volunteers and performers, sign-carrying, flyer distribution, and performers check in.

Approximately 100 volunteers will be needed for the festival in 2016. Volunteer during the year and for a few hours with your family & friends on the day of the festival. Your help is very much appreciated and needed!

AFRIFEST 2016 NEEDS YOU!

It takes a village to put together a festival and Afrifest 2016 needs your help to make it a success.  We are currently signing up volunteers to be on the planning committee and to work at the festival in the following areas.  There are no small jobs; everyone counts towards the success of the event.  Planning committee members will meet monthly and onsite Volunteers’ shifts run from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. with two-four hour shifts.

  • Executive Planning Committee Members (Marketing/PR, Sponsorships, Vendors, Music, Food, etc…)
  • Security
  • Stage crew
  • Info booth
  • Greet and Assist attendees/ pick up trash
  • Clean up
  • Food and drinks for the volunteers and performers on the day of the festival
  • Photography, still and video
  • Attendee questionnaire management and analysis
  • Pop and Water Concessions
  • VIP/Sponsors Tent

Afrifest depends on the volunteers who donate their time to making sure everything runs smoothly on the @ The Festival! As a volunteer you will enjoy a fun-filled day of activities while meeting new neighbors and other community members.

Non-profit organizations can also sponsor Afrifest by providing volunteers to work the event and assist with festival activities.

Afrifest Foundation’s 2016 Board Openings

 

The Afrifest Foundation, a Pan African nonprofit organization, is currently recruiting new board members for 2016. The board will determine long term strategies, oversee the staff, and set priorities for the organization.

If you have a few hours to spare for monthly meetings and are interested in making a difference in the growing Pan African community in Minnesota and the United States, then this is the perfect volunteer opportunity for you.

Areas the board are involved in:

* Planning
* Policy approval
* Annual review of the executive director’s performance
* Setting of compensation structure
* Fundraising
* Financial management

Requirements
2-3 hours, One Saturday a month, for board meetings.
